He also says that most people who consider themselves philosophers are actually philosophologists. The difference between a philosopher and a philosophologist is like the difference between an art and aesthetics; one does and the other studies what the other does and theorizes about it."...Show more
Donte Hamme: my mother bought me a book called literally "the book of philosophy" you could always go and buy one from your local book store and check that out because its really inter! esting and gives all MAJOR perspectives from Pythagoras through to Noam Chomsky...BUT BUT BUT, if your asking me in my almost professional opinion ((as i have done 200 hours plus of independent research) said to increase my credibility)) ...Philosophy is less thinking about certain things as much as it is thinking is a certain way.. many philosophers take other peoples philosophies as the truth and adapt their view to the previous philosopher.. the more advantageous approach to developing your philosophical world view would be to look at many different sources and come to reach a conclusion that unique to you.. That being said i believe philosophy should be learned in such a sense that philosophy should be practiced, not studied. because if you study philosophy then your are studying those who do philosophize and your not actually participating in the philosophizing... but if you want to learn more about the fundamental problems ( AKA questions) we have in the universe such! as nature of mater, nature of thought, nature of energy etc..! . you need not study philosophy!!!!!! but learn to philosophize.. the truth is revealing as well as empowering, not in a physical but a mental aspect which is why philosophy is really fun.ill end this by saying..It is always good to question authority, i mean even when you were growing up or if you are still growing up... your parents are not always right, but you have to listen to them. when you grow up and your the Woman/Man that is a responsible adult, you will have the right to always be able to understand the truth and the best answer for why you do the things you do.. philosophizing is the end game of that, start questioning things that seem to be accepted generally but have no reason for being the way they are.. and you will find that there are reasons for many things, you just have to be willing to dig deep enough down the rabbit hole.. just like alice in wonderland, believe it or not, learn to philosophize and eventually you'll OVERstand (not understand, play on wo! rds) how the rabbit hole in alice in wonderland is EXACTLY a representation of the realm of philosophy in our world as we know it..practice to learn and you will learn to practice...Show more
