Angelyn Ducas: You're right about Bose - they are way overpriced for what you are getting. I agree also that you should build your own system. Most of the pre-boxed systems don't compare to a custom system that you design yourself, however there are exceptions. We purchased a pre-boxed Onkyo system for my father-in-law that was extremely impressive and it wasn't expensive at all. It was more than adequate to meet his needs and he was very happy with it. I have a Sony receiver, BIC America front speakers and center channel, and a custom built subwoofer made by my father (who was a sound engineer and built his own speakers back in the day). My surrounds, believe it or not, are an old pair of Radio Shack satellites that I've had for almost 20 years. When I first hooked them up I figured they'd be good for now, until I could purchase new ones. They sound great though, so I didn't bother. By the way, you probably won't even need to spend $1500....Show more

These guys are high quality...but you do play for it...but you will not regret it.Personally I have Polk audio speakers all around and SVS PB12-NSD, which is the sub that's included in the second website. Since I didn't know before them before I made up my mind about the Polk.Good luck with your choice....Show more
Iris Shawcroft: You haven't given information on what features you want (i.e. DVD or Blu-Ray), the equipment you currently have or what you're willing to spend. I always recommend avoiding home theater in a box (HTIB) systems. Build your own instead. Whenever I am looking for recommendations I visit cnet.com.You're ri! ght avoiding Bose.
