Toshiko Reimers: Generally, churches are exempt from Federal income tax as 501(c)3 religious organizations.Individual state taxation laws are different, but generally, states recognize the Federal exemption. The church, since it's probably a corporation, may be required to file a statement regularly with the state, showing who the officers, etc., are, and that might require a filing fee, usually only a few dollars....Show more
