Hans Sachetti: You will be promised plenty of real-world job training opportunities and a heap of money for school. Don't believe a word of it. Getting an education while on active duty is, at least in the Army, impossible, and the much-touted GI Bill is in a state of flux.

Annabell Bevier: It is generally very specialized. For example, I served in the Canadian military. My last posting was working in a government department with civilians. My military training put me at a level that the civilians needed a Master's degree in Physics to do. However, the civvies could do a lot that I could not do (outside our particular job). I was trained for that job specifically, but, not all the other things a Physicist can do.But, education is important. Of my 25 years in the Regular Force, I spent 5 in school on formal courses, another 2 or 3 doing formal "On Job Training," and loads of othe! r training as well....Show more
