Raleigh Lufkin: While it does sound like a great idea to include both of you in the name, you might want to consider if down the road you two split and one ends up with the business. It happens. It can be tough to run a business within a family at times. I am not saying it would happen to the two of you at all, but you should consider it. Especially after all the investment you will have in advertising, logos, letterheads, etc. Once you build a good reputation with one name, it is tough to start over with another and people know who you are.With all that said... ;-) How about The Family Tree and Landscaping Service. Or.......... If you are just planning to do local jobs (and with the price of fuel nowadays not just for traveling to and from your jobsites, but for supplies and materials) you might consider using a name that includes your location.
