Treatment and Control of diseases?

Esmeralda Pigram: I'll guess ... A deficiency disease can be treated by giving the patient the missing 'ingredient'. i.e. Vitamin A deficiency is pretty common in the world. It can be treated by giving the sufferers vitamin A.Treatment of an inherited disease will depend on the exact nature of the disease, and each will be treated in a way that ameliorates the symptoms. i.e. people with Refsum's disease must not eat the lipid that causes the symptoms (phytanic acid), or people congenital adrenal hypoplasia are given steroids to make up for their missing adrenals.Also, I would guess that deficiency diseases can always be treated if the deficiency can be identified, while many genetic diseases have no cures as yet and many have no effective treatments....Show more
