Need expert car audio advise please!?

Whitney Saborido: ok dont worry about the head unit getting hot its normal, aftermarket head units get fairly hot real fast so its ok it will be fine. now as far as you getting an amp for your speakers yes you could do that but its not gonna make your head unit not get hot. as i said its normal especially with sonys.you also said you might want to get subs an thats cool but you dont wanna get an amp an hook up your speakers an subs to it, you will need to seperate amps. one amp for your subs is reqired to power the subs obviously, an you will need a seperate amp for your speakers. you dont need to hook an amp to the speakers cuz as i said its not gonna stop the head unit from getting hot, the only thing an amp will do for your speakers is make them louder. so amping your speakers is not neccisary at all. but you absolutely need one for the subs. an definitly do not hook up speakers an subs to the same amp.an as far as the wires going to the rear looking old in a 1998 i gu! ess is possible but i have over 10 years experiance installing car audio/video an im mecp certified an have my own shop an i never had a problem with wires in a car getting to old to where it would cause a problem, but as i said its possible. if i were you i would take your car to a mobile electronics certified professional{mecp} shop an ask them what they think. if you live in or near jersey your welcome to bring it to me to check out,no charge unless im installing something,i give free estimates. but to be honest its a 98 an granted a bit old but i wouldnt worry about that to much. the worst that will happen if the wires are old is your speaker will just stop working. but its up to you. good luck an if i can be of anymore assistance email me....Show more

Rosie Travino: You Might Need To Replace Your wires and if that doesnt fix the problem you might have a defective radio

Lindsey Zanardi: i would say check over ur decks wiring, u might try looking at ur ground! wire an power wires. the ground is where all the energy leave! s, if ur ground to too small or doesnt have a good connection it can cause the excess energy to travel to the heat sink instead of being released threw the ground wire. an amp just amplifies the sound thats already there, the deck puts out the same output. old wire or stock wire may Not provide a good enough ground u may try grounding it urself.i have a sony deck and the heat sink hardly gets warm. an i can turn the stereo up to 44 out of 50 all day long. so blasting the radio shouldn't cause the heat sink to burn u....Show more

Raul Tllo: yeah if they are not the stock speakers i would get a small amp for them a 2 channel or 4 hannel amp would be good. if you want to add a subwoofer look at getting a seperate class D Monoblock amp.
